Poquito Valley

Poquito Valley is a rural community of Yavapai County. Lots are a minimum of 2 acres. Each parcel consists of individual wells and septic systems. The roads are currently dirt, however the main road is under a County Road Improvement District. There are gorgeous views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Horses and farm animals are permitted per County zoning requirements. Qwest Communication telephone services is available in the soutern portion. Midvale Telephone Exchange of Idaho services the northern portion which is currently not available but is expected in the near future. Please contact Midvale at 1-800-462-4523 for further information.

We have a gentlemen in our community who does his absolute best to grade the road on a periodic basis when needed. If you feel compelled, please provide any amount of a road donation to him when you see him out grading the road. This will assist in continued grade funding until the County commences road construction. Thank you to this gentlemen and his family for your time and dedication to serving the community.

The County Road Improvement District was approved by the Board of Supervisors in May 2005 and passed the community protest period in October 2007 by a majority margin of 90/10. The road design is for the main road, Poquito Valley Road, and consists of 8" abc over 3" ashvalt with 12 foot lanes complete with abc shoulders. It stretches for approximately three and half miles and begins just after the cattle guard on the southern portion. It stops at the northern portion of Dog Ranch Road. The main road will be maintained by the County when completed and adopted into the County's list of dedicated roads. The actual road assesment is unknown at this time. It is important to note that the Viewpoint Subdivision is located in the Prescott Valley city limits and, as it is built up over time, more of Viewpoint Drive will evidently be paved making for a continious paved travel route to Highway 89A.

The benefits to a County maintained Road are as follows: More expedite emergency response time, Reduced auto/tire maintenance, Possible closer school bus access, On-going County road maintenance once the road is completed and adopted in the County road maintenance list, Much more convenience traveling into town for groceries, visiting friends and family and inviting others over to spend time with you, Potential increased property values should the housing market rebound, and the list of advantages continues.

Please feel free to contact Laura Bunn, at (928) 771-3183 if you need to speak to someone concerning our County Road Improvement Project. Email address is:
Laura.bunn@co.yavapai.az.us For updates on on-going Board of Supervisor's meetings, please visit the County's website at: www.co.yavapai.az.us, [You will see an icon on the home page entitled "Current Board Meetings".] A further source of information can be found by contacting Bev Staddon, Special Districts Coordinator, at (928) 771-3209, email, bev.staddon@co.yavapai.az.us.
